Agartala, Nov 3 — The Tipra Motha Party, a constituent of the BJP-led ruling alliance in Tripura, has decided to postpone its proposed rally scheduled for November 7 after police authorities denied permission to hold the event at Swami Vivekananda Maidan.

According to officials, the police department declined to grant permission for the rally as the venue is already booked for an ongoing expo during the same period. Authorities cited concerns over possible overcrowding and security risks if both events were held simultaneously at the Maidan.

“The police felt that conducting a major political rally alongside the expo could lead to logistical difficulties and potential law-and-order issues due to excessive crowding,” said an official source.

Accepting the police’s reasoning, the Tipra Motha leadership agreed to defer the event, opting to avoid any confrontation over the issue. Party insiders confirmed that as soon as the police communication was received, Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman held discussions with the Young Tipra Federation (YTF) leadership to explore alternative dates for the rally.

Sources within the party indicated that discussions are underway to reschedule the rally for either November 27 or 28, at the same venue, subject to official approval. The rally, according to insiders, is expected to be a major gathering aimed at mobilizing party workers and reaffirming the party’s regional and political objectives.

The Tipra Motha Party’s decision to cooperate with the authorities and postpone the event has been viewed as a gesture of maintaining peace and coordination with administrative agencies. The party is expected to announce the new date formally after final discussions with the district administration and police department.
