New Delhi, Nov 14 — The ruling NDA alliance, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is poised for a sweeping return to power in Bihar, with counts and trends indicating the coalition may secure around 200 seats in the 243-member Assembly. The mandate marks a decisive blow to the Mahagathbandhan (MGB) comprising the RJD, Congress, and Left parties.

As trends gradually firmed into results, the NDA’s lead widened steadily through the day, showcasing one of its strongest electoral performances to date. Both the BJP and JD(U) appear to have surpassed pre-poll expectations, with the BJP notably outperforming its ally and triggering fresh political speculation regarding leadership dynamics within the coalition.

Despite the NDA’s dominance, the election also underscored surprising performance shifts among smaller parties, making this one of the most closely observed state polls in recent years.

Below are five major takeaways from the 2025 Bihar Assembly election results:

1. Modi–Nitish Combination Delivers Resounding Mandate
Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the victory a triumph of good governance and public welfare. Political analysts credit the landslide to the synergy between Modi and Nitish Kumar, whose combined appeal galvanized a broad coalition of OBCs, EBCs, youth, and women voters.

2. RJD and Congress Suffer Major Setbacks
Despite securing the highest vote share among individual parties, the RJD’s seat tally has plummeted, marking one of its poorest performances. Congress, meanwhile, appears to have faced an even harsher rejection, with Rahul Gandhi’s campaign messaging failing to resonate on the ground.

3. Chirag Paswan’s LJP Emerges as a Strong NDA Asset
Chirag Paswan’s LJP, contesting 29 seats, is leading in 19, proving his growing influence and vindicating his strong bargaining within the NDA.

4. AIMIM Maintains Foothold in Seemanchal
Once again, Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM is performing well in the Seemanchal belt, securing multiple wins and reinforcing its regional presence.

5. Jan Suraaj Fails to Make an Impact
Prashant Kishor’s much-hyped debut under the Jan Suraaj banner has fallen flat, with the party drawing a blank.

The NDA’s emphatic victory signals a dramatic political shift in Bihar, reshaping the state’s electoral landscape for the years ahead.
