Agartala: In a strategic move to expand international cooperation and promote the state’s organic agriculture, Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted the remarkable progress of the Tripura Organic Mission at the Middle East Natural & Organic Products Expo (MENOPE) 2025 in Dubai. The event, held from November 17 to 19 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, brought together global leaders in organic production, trade, investment, and innovation.

Tripura’s participation at MENOPE 2025 drew significant attention from buyers, investors, and retailers across the GCC, Europe, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia. The state showcased its flagship organic products, including the GI-tagged Queen Pineapple, Kalikhasa and Harinarayan aromatic rice, Bird’s Eye Chilli, Gandharaj Lemon, White Sesame, and Foxtail Millet. International visitors praised these products for their rich flavour, exceptional quality, and suitability for export markets, generating strong interest in long-term sourcing partnerships.

Speaking at the expo, Minister Nath said he was honoured to share Tripura’s organic transformation at a global platform renowned for trade and innovation. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura has emerged as one of India’s most progressive organic farming states. “Today, Tripura has 26,400 hectares under certified organic cultivation involving more than 26,800 farmers who have transitioned to sustainable practices. Our goal is to empower farmers and ensure strong value chains,” he said.

The Minister further informed that 53 organic farmers’ producer companies (FPCs) have been established to support aggregation, processing, branding, and direct marketing. Highlighting Tripura’s signature fruit, he said the GI-tagged Queen Pineapple, with a natural sweetness of 16–20 Brix, is ideal for fresh consumption, while the Kew variety suits processing industries.

Minister Nath also emphasized Tripura’s diverse organic crops, including scented Gandharaj lemon, aromatic Kali Khasa rice, sticky and black rice varieties, ginger, turmeric, sesame, and millets—all gaining recognition for their nutritional value and global market potential.
