Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy on Tuesday inaugurated a special cycling expedition titled ‘Ride for Unity, Ride for Martyrs’ at the Sector 21 Assam Rifles Headquarters. The event began with a ceremonial flag-off, marking the official commencement of the initiative aimed at honouring fallen martyrs and promoting national unity.

Addressing participants and officials, Minister Roy expressed deep admiration for the martyrs whose sacrifices continue to inspire generations. He also appreciated the Assam Rifles for organizing the meaningful event. “It is truly inspiring and a matter of pride to be part of this noble effort by a force that symbolizes the nation’s security and discipline. Such initiatives strengthen the spirit of courage, solidarity, and patriotism across our country,” he said.

A senior Assam Rifles official highlighted that the expedition seeks to instill values of resilience, unity, and commitment among the riders, while also paying tribute to the brave individuals who laid down their lives in service to the nation. The event encourages participants to embody the ideals of perseverance and national integration, reflecting the ethos of the armed forces.

The Assam Rifles, often hailed as the ‘Sentinels of the North-East,’ continue to play a crucial role in safeguarding the region. Beyond their security responsibilities, the force remains actively engaged in community outreach through initiatives like this cycling expedition, which foster greater public participation and awareness.

The ‘Ride for Unity, Ride for Martyrs’ expedition stands as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless soldiers and underscores the importance of collective national spirit. The event further reinforces the bond between security forces and the community, promoting values that strengthen the fabric of the nation.
