Agartala, December 4:
A tragic accident on the Delhi–Lucknow National Highway late Wednesday night claimed the lives of four students after their car collided head-on with a truck. Police confirmed that the impact was so severe that all four occupants died on the spot.
Among the deceased was Dr. Saptarshi Das, son of Sushanta Shekhar Das from Ramnagar No. 1 Road in Agartala, Tripura. Saptarshi had recently completed his MBBS and was undergoing his internship, marking the beginning of what many believed would be a promising medical career. He was an alumnus of Ravi Shankar Vidyamandir, where he completed his schooling before pursuing medical studies.
The three other victims have been identified as Arnab Chakraborty from Kolkata, and Aysh Sharma and Srestha Pancholi from Delhi. According to Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand, all bodies have been shifted to the mortuary and will undergo post-mortem examinations once the families arrive. Authorities noted that further legal procedures will be initiated after recording the statements of the victims’ relatives and completing the required formalities.
Back in Agartala, news of Saptarshi’s death sent shockwaves through the Ramnagar locality. Neighbours, friends, and well-wishers gathered at the family’s residence, struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss of the young doctor. His parents and close relatives left for Delhi on Thursday afternoon to bring his body back home.
What was meant to be a routine journey ended in a heartbreaking tragedy, extinguishing the lives of four young individuals with bright futures ahead of them. The incident has left communities in Tripura, Kolkata, and Delhi grieving deeply, as families and acquaintances mourn the irreplaceable loss.
