Four Left party workers, who had been arrested in connection with a protest march during the Left Labour Rally on November 10, were released on bail on Monday and received an enthusiastic welcome from party colleagues and supporters. The activists were detained after a demonstration that moved across the city’s flyover, prompting police intervention and subsequent arrests. Their release came nearly four weeks after they were lodged at Bishalgarh Central Jail.

A large crowd of party leaders, activists, and sympathizers gathered outside the jail premises well before the scheduled release time. As the four workers stepped out of the prison gates, the atmosphere surged with energy. They were greeted with garlands, raised fists, and slogans celebrating solidarity and resistance. Supporters hailed the moment as a testament to the determination of the working-class movement and the resilience of those who continue to fight for democratic rights.

Senior Left leaders present at the gathering condemned the arrests, calling them an attempt to suppress legitimate dissent and intimidate workers participating in peaceful protests. They emphasized that such actions would only strengthen the resolve of the movement. Leaders also reiterated that the November 10 march was organized to highlight the pressing issues facing labourers, including wage disparities, rising unemployment, and job insecurity.

Addressing the gathering, party representatives pledged to intensify their struggle for workers’ rights and promised to stand firmly behind those who face repercussions for voicing public grievances. They noted that the release of the four activists should serve as motivation for broader unity among the working class.

Supporters dispersed with renewed enthusiasm, vowing to continue their efforts toward safeguarding democratic rights and ensuring that workers’ voices remain heard. The release of the activists has injected fresh momentum into the Left’s ongoing campaigns across the state.
