Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) must secure victory in all 28 seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) to ensure a safe, stable, and developed future for the next generation of janajati people.

Addressing a programme at Borakha under Mandwi in West Tripura district, where 153 voters formally joined the BJP, Dr. Saha said the political atmosphere in the hill areas was undergoing a significant shift. “Today’s gathering reflects what will unfold in the coming days,” he said, adding that people had lost faith in both the CPI(M) and the party currently running the TTAADC.

The chief minister alleged that janajati communities were neglected during earlier regimes and that prolonged unrest and violence had severely hampered development in the region. Referring to past incidents, Dr. Saha said many janajati people lost their lives in Mandwi during the CPI(M) tenure. “If peace is not there, development is not possible,” he asserted, stressing that restoring peace was the first step towards progress.

Highlighting improvements in governance, Dr. Saha said the law and order situation in Tripura had improved remarkably in recent years. He claimed that the state had recorded the lowest crime rate over the past two decades and cited NITI Aayog’s assessment, which identified Tripura as a frontrunner. He attributed these achievements to the policies of the BJP governments at both the Centre and the state, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Emphasizing the role of the state government in ADC development, the chief minister said that meaningful progress in TTAADC areas was not possible without Tripura government support. He added that investors required the confidence and approval of the state administration before investing in ADC regions.

Dr. Saha further stated that more than 40 per cent of the state budget for 2025–26 had been allocated for the ADC. “If we want to secure a developed future for the next generation, BJP candidates must win all 28 seats,” he said.

BJP general secretary Bipin Debbarma, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, and other party leaders were present at the event, party sources said.
