Agartala: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday welcomed the Union Budget 2026 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, describing it as a “visionary blueprint” that clearly charts India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Extending his heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Finance Minister, Dr. Saha said the Budget lays down a comprehensive 25-year roadmap for national growth, economic transformation and inclusive development. He noted that the proposals reflect the Union government’s long-term commitment to building a strong, self-reliant and globally competitive India.

Reacting to the Budget, the Chief Minister highlighted its wide-ranging focus, spanning manufacturing and world-class infrastructure, healthcare and tourism, rural development and adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence. He said the emphasis on multiple sectors demonstrates a holistic and balanced approach to development, ensuring that progress reaches all sections of society.

Dr. Saha also pointed out that the Budget gives due importance to the development of modern sports infrastructure as well as sacred pilgrimage destinations, underlining the government’s effort to blend economic growth with cultural and social development. According to him, this integrated vision will help generate employment, boost local economies and enhance India’s global standing.

Emphasising the people-centric nature of the Budget, the Chief Minister said it ignites the aspirations of youth, women and farmers across villages, towns and cities. “The provisions announced in the Budget have the potential to transform dreams into reality by creating opportunities, strengthening livelihoods and improving quality of life,” he remarked.

Dr. Saha added that the Budget strengthens the foundation of Atmanirbhar Bharat by encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and productivity, while ensuring that growth remains inclusive and sustainable.

Observers in the state see the Chief Minister’s remarks as a strong endorsement of the Union government’s vision. They believe Tripura stands to benefit from enhanced infrastructure development, expanded livelihood opportunities, rural empowerment and improved social services under the new policy framework outlined in the Union Budget 2026.
