Islamabad, Feb 3:
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Aleema Khan, sister of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with her two guarantors, Nadeem Bilal and Wahid Mehmood, in connection with the November 24, 2024 protest at D-Chowk, Islamabad, local media reported.

The court also issued a show-cause notice to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawal for failing to execute previous arrest orders. Authorities have been directed to arrest and present Aleema Khan and her guarantors before the court on February 4. The court rejected Aleema Khan’s request for exemption from appearing, emphasizing strict compliance with its orders. SP Rawal has been summoned on Wednesday to explain why the warrants were not executed.

The case was registered at Sadiqabad Police Station and stems from protests called by Imran Khan on November 13, 2024, demanding restoration of PTI’s electoral mandate, release of detained party members, and reversal of the 26th Amendment. PTI supporters staged demonstrations at D-Chowk, which ended on November 26 following state action against the protesters.

Separately, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) approached the Sindh High Court on Monday challenging the alleged detention of more than 180 party workers during pre-dawn raids in Karachi and other parts of Sindh under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance. PTI Sindh General Secretary Mansoor Ali and Insaf Lawyers Forum President Faisal Mughal filed the petition seeking immediate release of the detainees and declaring the February 1 MPO order invalid.

The petition lists 14 respondents, including the Sindh Chief Secretary, additional Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Karachi police officials, and several district SSPs. The Sindh government has rejected PTI’s allegations.

Imran Khan, who has been in prison since August 2023, continues to face multiple cases, including corruption and terrorism, since being removed from office via a no-confidence motion in 2022.
