The Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, a flagship welfare initiative of the state government aimed at supporting daughters of Antyodaya families, marked another significant milestone in Goladharpur village. Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy personally handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 to beneficiary Mili Sinha, reaffirming the government’s commitment to empowering economically weaker sections.

The scheme has been designed to provide financial assistance to families at the time of their daughters’ marriage, once they attain the age of 18 years. By addressing marriage-related expenses, the initiative seeks to reduce financial hardship among poor households while promoting dignity, social security, and gender equality.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tinku Roy described the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana as a lifeline for rural and underprivileged families. He said the scheme goes beyond monetary support and reflects the government’s resolve to stand with citizens during important life events. The Minister also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for conceptualising and implementing the welfare programme, which has already benefited many families across the state.

Under the provisions of the scheme, eligible applicants are required to submit proof of age, such as Aadhaar cards or school certificates, along with bank account details to the Panchayat, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), or Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office. Following verification by Panchayat authorities, the financial assistance is released in advance of the marriage to ensure timely support.

The event in Goladharpur highlighted the expanding reach and effectiveness of the scheme. Minister Roy urged eligible families from all districts to come forward and apply, emphasizing that the government is determined to ensure that no deserving beneficiary is left out.

Local residents welcomed the initiative, noting that it not only provides much-needed financial relief but also offers reassurance and dignity to families preparing for their daughters’ weddings.
