Agartala, February 12: A significant step toward strengthening educational infrastructure in Tripura was marked on Thursday as Sukla Charan Noatia, Minister and MLA of Jolaibari constituency, laid the foundation stone for a new two-storied building at West Pilak Higher Secondary School. The ceremony was attended by local leaders, members of the school management committee, teachers, parents and students.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Noatia highlighted the state government’s commitment to ensuring equal access to quality education across both hilly and plain areas. He said the government is focused on developing modern infrastructure even in remote villages to remove long-standing disparities in the education sector.

The proposed building, estimated to cost around ₹9 crore, will include modern classrooms and improved facilities aimed at creating a better teaching and learning environment. The Minister expressed confidence that the new infrastructure would enhance academic standards and provide students with improved opportunities for growth.

Noatia also referred to infrastructural shortcomings in schools during the previous Left regime, stating that many institutions faced shortages of classrooms, drinking water and other essential amenities. He asserted that the present government is actively working to address these gaps and upgrade educational facilities across the state.

He further noted that since the political change in Jolaibari constituency, development activities have gained momentum, particularly in hill areas. According to him, visible progress has been made not only in education but also in roads, healthcare and other key sectors.

The programme concluded with cultural performances by students, who welcomed the guests with enthusiasm. Local residents expressed happiness over the project, describing the new building as a milestone that would benefit future generations.
