Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday strongly condemned the attack on BJP state General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, describing the incident as an act driven by political frustration.

Addressing the media, Dr. Saha said such attacks were the result of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s growing influence in tribal-dominated regions of the state. “These attacks are perpetrated out of frustration. The BJP has been gaining ground in the tribal areas, and Bipin Debbarma has been working tirelessly for the party in these regions. The growth and expansion of the BJP cannot be tolerated by other parties. I would request them to refrain from such activities,” he stated.

According to the Chief Minister, Debbarma escaped unharmed despite the severity of the incident. “Stones and bricks were thrown at him. Thankfully, he has escaped unhurt,” Dr. Saha said. In what appeared to be a veiled message to political opponents, he added, “Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others.”

Speaking about the incident, Debbarma said his vehicle was attacked by unidentified miscreants while he was returning from Mandai after attending a party meeting on Saturday. He alleged that his car was targeted without provocation, raising concerns over political safety in the region.

Debbarma confirmed that he has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Mandai Police Station regarding the incident and urged authorities to identify and take action against those responsible.

The attack has sparked political tension in the state, with BJP leaders calling for peace while condemning what they described as attempts to intimidate party workers.
