Agartala, Feb 25: The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Wednesday commenced its Class XII examinations, with students turning up in large numbers across Agartala and other districts amid enthusiasm and determination.

The examinations began at 12 noon, with English as the first paper. TBSE President Dr. Dhananjay Gon Choudhury visited multiple examination centres to review arrangements and interact with candidates. He informed that a record 26,411 students are appearing this year, including 12,246 boys and 14,164 girls. The figure marks a significant increase from last year’s 21,575 examinees.

Among the candidates, one student from the third gender is appearing from the Fatikroy centre. Additionally, 85 students are taking the equivalent Madrasa Fazil examination. The board has set up 62 examination centres covering 99 venues across the state to accommodate the candidates.

Dr. Choudhury said that stringent measures have been put in place to prevent unfair practices and ensure a transparent examination process. He personally inspected facilities such as drinking water, electricity, seating arrangements and sanitation to ensure that students face no inconvenience during the exams.

Students expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, stating that they were able to write their papers in a calm and orderly environment without any disruptions.

With record participation and improved logistical preparations, this year’s Higher Secondary examinations reflect the growing academic aspirations of Tripura’s youth. Officials said the board remains committed to conducting fair and smooth examinations while maintaining high standards of discipline and transparency throughout the evaluation process.
