Agartala, March 7: State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee on Saturday inaugurated a new RO water purification project at Ramthakur Pathshala Higher Secondary Girls’ School in Town Pratapgarh under the Banamalipur constituency, aiming to provide safe and clean drinking water to students and staff.

The project has been implemented with support from Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited (TNGCL) under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MP-LADS). The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve essential facilities in educational institutions across the state.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Bhattacharjee said ensuring access to safe drinking water is crucial for the health and well-being of students. He noted that many schools still face challenges related to basic infrastructure and stressed the need to address these gaps through coordinated initiatives.

“Providing clean and safe drinking water in schools is a fundamental requirement. This RO purification system will benefit both students and teachers by ensuring that they have access to hygienic drinking water throughout the day,” he said.

The BJP state president also emphasized that such initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure while prioritizing the health and safety of young learners. According to him, investments in school facilities not only improve the learning environment but also contribute to the overall development of students.

School authorities expressed their appreciation for the initiative, stating that the installation of the RO purification system will significantly improve the daily facilities available to students. They noted that access to purified drinking water will enhance the overall academic atmosphere and promote better health among the students.

Teachers and staff members present at the programme also welcomed the project, describing it as a much-needed addition to the school’s infrastructure.

Officials said the initiative could serve as a model for similar projects in other schools across Tripura, encouraging wider efforts to strengthen basic amenities in educational institutions throughout the state.
