In a tragic incident, journalist Nandan Chakraborty lost his life in a road accident in Tripura’s Santirbazar subdivision early Wednesday morning. Chakraborty, a resident of Ramnagar, Agartala, was working as a staff reporter with Syandan Patrika.

According to official reports, the Santirbazar Fire Service received information about a road accident near Rajapur, Santirbazar at around 4:45 a.m. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and found Chakraborty lying critically injured on the road beside his scooter. He was immediately taken to Santirbazar District Hospital for treatment.

However, despite prompt medical attention, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival, leaving his family, colleagues, and the local community in deep shock.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Chakraborty was traveling from Agartala to Belonia on his scooter (registration number TR 01 AK 8236) when the accident occurred. The exact circumstances leading to the crash remain unclear at this stage.

Police from the Monpathar Outpost later reached the scene, recovered the vehicle, and initiated an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident. Authorities are expected to examine all possible factors, including road conditions and visibility at the time of the incident.

Following the completion of post-mortem formalities, Chakraborty’s body was handed over to his family.

The untimely demise of the young journalist has cast a pall of gloom over the media fraternity, particularly in Santirbazar. Colleagues and well-wishers have expressed profound grief, remembering him as a committed and dedicated reporter whose contributions to journalism will be deeply missed.
