Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumdar on Thursday announced plans to establish a modern coffee house at the Children’s Park Ground as part of efforts to improve recreational facilities and upgrade civic amenities in the city.

The Mayor visited the park along with officials and engineers of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) to inspect the site and review development possibilities. During the inspection, Majumdar said the proposed coffee house would help transform the park into a more attractive and vibrant destination for residents as well as tourists.

“Our aim is to make life in Agartala more comfortable, modern and enjoyable. The proposed coffee house will add charm to the Children’s Park Ground and provide citizens with a welcoming place for leisure, interaction and relaxation,” the Mayor said while speaking to reporters.

According to AMC officials, the project is part of a broader initiative to modernize public spaces across the city while ensuring that traditional recreational areas are preserved and improved. The proposed coffee house is expected to feature modern infrastructure, comfortable seating arrangements and an aesthetically appealing design suited for families, visitors and young people.

Officials said the civic body is focusing on developing community-friendly spaces that encourage social interaction and cultural engagement. The coffee house is also expected to create a lively atmosphere within the park premises and attract more footfall to the area.

Residents have largely welcomed the proposal and expressed optimism that the facility will enhance the overall appeal of the Children’s Park Ground. Many believe the initiative could become a new social and cultural hub in the city, particularly for youth and families seeking quality recreational spaces.

Observers said the move reflects the Municipal Corporation’s growing emphasis on urban development and modernization of civic infrastructure. They noted that projects aimed at improving parks and public gathering spaces can significantly contribute to the quality of life in rapidly developing urban centres like Agartala.

The AMC is expected to finalize the design and implementation plan for the coffee house project in the coming months.
