Agartala, May 31: At least 939 people were rendered homeless in the Sadar subdivision as heavy rain inundates the low-lying areas of the subdivision,

Reportedly, 4 shelter houses were opened by the Sadar administration in different locations including Pratapgarh English Medium Higher Secondary School in Pratapgarh Hrishi Colony, Swami Dayanand Higher Secondary School, Aralia Hrishi Das Colony S.B. School and Akshay Kumar J.B. School.

Presently 939 people are staying in these shelter houses. Out of these, 381 are women, 384 are men and 174 are children.

Moreover, the heavy rain on Saturday also inundated the capital town of Agartala to trap the people at their home and other places. Several parts of the city were inundated in the capital town of Agartala along with other parts of the state.
