Agartala, March 29: The state agriculture and farmers welfare minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday inaugurated a pineapple processing unit at Pukarbari of Amtali village under Sepahijala district and said that the government is focused on organic farming and is contemplating to boost organic production.
He said that the prime minister has laid special emphasis on organic farming in the entire country with an eye on the quality of food. The present government of the state has also given special importance to organic farming, he said, adding that at present many crops starting from pineapple are being cultivated organically in Tripura.
He said that agriculture is one of the priority areas of the state government. One FPO in each block of the state has been opened, he said, adding that this is the first pineapple processing center opened through FPO in the state.
On the occasion, the Agriculture Minister released a catalog on organic farming. He provided seed license to 3 persons and crop seeds to 4 persons.Agri minister inaugurates Pineapple processing unit
