Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB), a symbol of trust, customer service and modern banking excellence, celebrated its golden jubilee on Sunday with a grand event held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. The year-long golden jubilee celebrations were formally inaugurated by Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
Inaugurating the programme, the Finance Minister lauded the significant contribution of Tripura Gramin Bank towards rural development in the state. He said that among regional rural banks across the country, TGB’s progress and operational efficiency stand out as commendable. Highlighting its steady growth, he noted that the bank has played a crucial role in strengthening the rural economy by extending banking services to underserved and remote areas.
The Finance Minister stated that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development, Tripura Gramin Bank has been successful in taking modern banking facilities to the doorsteps of people living in far-flung regions. He also appreciated the bank’s proactive role in ensuring the effective implementation of various government welfare schemes, enabling benefits to reach the last mile and empowering rural and marginalised communities.
Speaking on the credit-deposit (CD) ratio, the Finance Minister pointed out that while the overall CD ratio of the state is around 50 per cent, Tripura Gramin Bank has achieved a CD ratio of 41 per cent. He described this as a positive indicator, stating that it reflects the bank’s active involvement in providing credit to local sectors and supporting economic activities at the grassroots level. Compared to several other banks, TGB’s performance in credit deployment, he added, remains encouraging.
Emphasising the need to further enhance customer convenience, Pranajit Singha Roy advised the bank authorities to increase the number of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) across the state. He expressed confidence that Tripura Gramin Bank would continue to strengthen its services and play a pivotal role in Tripura’s socio-economic development in the years ahead.
