Kailashahar, Dec — Tension prevailed in the Pakhirbada area under Kailashahar sub-division on Friday after a dispute related to the sale of cattle escalated into violence, resulting in allegations of assault and vandalism and leaving two persons injured.

According to local sources, a resident of Pakhirbada had legally purchased a cow from the neighbouring Golakpur area and was returning home when he was allegedly intercepted by a group of people on the way. What began as an argument soon took a violent turn, with the vehicle carrying the buyer reportedly vandalised. The buyer was allegedly dragged out and brutally assaulted by the group.

Soon after the incident began, the original owner of the cow reached the spot and attempted to defuse the situation. He reportedly clarified that the cattle transaction had been carried out in accordance with the law and produced all necessary documents to substantiate his claim. However, despite the presentation of valid papers, the situation reportedly deteriorated further.

Local residents alleged that the agitated group went on to attack both the buyer and the original owner of the cow. In the ensuing violence, at least two persons sustained injuries, including a Special Police Officer (SPO) jawan who was present at the scene. The injured were later provided medical attention.

The incident triggered panic and fear among residents of the area, with many expressing concern over the sudden breakdown of law and order. Questions have also been raised regarding the initial response of the administration and whether timely intervention could have prevented the escalation.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and managed to bring the situation under control. Additional forces were reportedly deployed in the area to prevent further flare-ups and to restore normalcy. An investigation into the incident has been initiated, and police are examining the circumstances that led to the violence.

However, till the filing of this report, the administration had not officially confirmed whether any arrests had been made in connection with the incident. Local residents have demanded the immediate identification of those involved and strict legal action against the perpetrators to ensure such incidents do not recur and to restore public confidence in law enforcement.
