Tokhan Sahu, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Tripura, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, at Lok Bhavan, Agartala, on Tuesday evening. The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere and reflected the spirit of cooperative federalism between the Centre and the State.

During the interaction, the Union Minister and the Governor exchanged views on a range of issues related to urban development, housing, and overall socio-economic progress. While the meeting was primarily a courtesy call, it also provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of coordinated efforts between the Union Government and the State administration for the effective implementation of flagship programmes in the housing and urban affairs sector.

Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu welcomed Shri Tokhan Sahu to Tripura and appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs aimed at improving urban infrastructure, affordable housing, and quality of life for citizens. The Governor highlighted the unique developmental needs of northeastern states and emphasized the importance of inclusive and sustainable urban growth, particularly in smaller cities and towns.

Union Minister Tokhan Sahu briefed the Governor on various initiatives of the Government of India in the areas of urban housing, sanitation, and urban infrastructure development. He reiterated the Centre’s commitment to supporting states, including Tripura, in achieving the objectives of programmes such as affordable housing for all, improved urban amenities, and enhanced civic services.
