Member of Parliament and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the medical treatment and kidney transplant of Padma Shri awardee Chitta Maharaj, also known as Chittaranjan Debbarma of Shanti Kali Ashram.

Sharing the development through a social media post, Deb said that the issue regarding Chitta Maharaj’s need for advanced medical treatment and kidney transplantation was brought to his attention. Following this, he promptly took steps to facilitate the process by forwarding the application seeking assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

According to Deb, the financial aid was sanctioned within a short period after the application was submitted. He described the prompt approval as an example of the Prime Minister’s commitment towards extending support to people requiring critical healthcare assistance.

Deb noted that the swift sanction of medical aid demonstrates a compassionate approach in addressing the needs of individuals undergoing serious medical treatment. He said such assistance becomes particularly significant for patients facing costly procedures and advanced medical care.

The former Chief Minister also pointed out that similar requests for financial assistance related to advanced treatment had received positive responses in the past as well. He said several applicants seeking support for major medical procedures had benefitted from intervention through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

Chitta Maharaj, a Padma Shri recipient and spiritual figure associated with Shanti Kali Ashram, has been widely respected for his contributions and social service activities. News of the assistance has drawn attention among followers and well-wishers who have expressed hope for his recovery and successful treatment.

Deb further conveyed his appreciation to the Prime Minister for extending timely support to those facing medical challenges. He stated that such interventions provide relief to families dealing with expensive healthcare requirements and reaffirm confidence in institutional support mechanisms for patients in need.
