Agartala, July 21: The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced a major organisational reshuffle, appointing new office-bearers and Morcha presidents with the approval of the party’s central leadership. The revamp marks the first significant restructuring of the state unit since Abhishek Debroy assumed charge as the BJP’s Tripura president.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, along with several Cabinet ministers and senior party leaders, congratulated the newly appointed members of the state committee and the Morcha presidents, expressing confidence that the reconstituted team would further strengthen the party’s organisational structure across the state.

Among the key changes, Arindam Deb, who earlier served as the party’s social media in-charge, has been appointed president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), replacing MLA Sushanta Deb. Another notable appointment is that of Chandan Debnath, formerly the party’s IT in-charge, who has been elevated to the post of State General Secretary.

Former MLA Mimi Majumder, who served as the president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, has been inducted into the state committee as State Secretary. She has been succeeded as Mahila Morcha president by Mousumi Das.

The newly constituted state committee includes six Vice-PresidentsTapas Bhattacharyya, Amit Rakshit, Ratan Ghosh, Ajanta Bhattacharjee, Tapas Majumder and Uttara Debbary. The party has also appointed Bhagaban Das, Bipin Debbarma and Chandan Debnath as General Secretaries.

The six newly appointed State Secretaries are Bhumikananda Reang, Kamal Dey, Nabadal Banik, Mimi Majumder, Malina Debnath and Rathindra Jamatia.

Other important organisational appointments include Nagadhiraj Dutta as Treasurer, M.K. Nath as Joint Treasurer and Mihir Sarkar as Office Secretary.

The BJP also announced the new Morcha presidents. Besides Arindam Deb (Yuva Morcha) and Mousumi Das (Mahila Morcha), the appointments include Abhijit Debbarma (ST Morcha), Bapi Das (SC Morcha), Sukanta Ghosh (OBC Morcha), Pradip Baran Roy (Kisan Morcha) and Billal Mia (Minority Morcha).

Party leaders said the organisational reshuffle is aimed at strengthening the BJP’s grassroots network and enhancing coordination among different organisational wings as the party prepares for its upcoming political and organisational programmes in Tripura.
