Agartala, May 08: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated district level blood donation camp of the Red Cross Society to mark the World Red Cross Day here at Agartala and emphasised on maintaining balance between the demand and supply of blood in the state.

Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said that the members of Red Cross Society are selflessly engaged in the service of the needy in times of war, disasters with humanitarian values. They have a reputation for service around the world, he added.

Underlining the Saharsh initiative by the government, the Chief Minister said that the Saharsh curriculum is designed to inculcate humanity in children and develop their inner being.

“Apart from the traditional curriculum, children should be taught from an early age to understand the pain and feelings of others and to develop the mentality of being together with everyone,” Dr Saha said.

Regarding improving health care services in the state, the Chief Minister claimed that health workers are relentlessly providing medical services in state hospitals. The state government is working with transparency in the vision of the Prime Minister. Health, education, agriculture, tourism, sports etc. are developing in the state and in that case, public representatives are playing an important role, Dr Saha said.
