Agartala, May 09: Along with the rest of the parts, a rich tribute was paid to the world poet Rabindranath Tagore on his 146th birth anniversary on Friday.
The ‘Kabi Pronam’ programme was held here at Agartala Rabindra Kanan on Friday morning, where Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Special Secretary of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs Debapriya Bardhan, MLA Meenarani Sarkar, Information and Culture Department Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya, State Cultural Advisory Committee Vice Chairman Subrata Chakraborty, Tripura Horticulture Corporation Limited Chairman Jawahar Saha, State Women’s Commission Chairperson Jharna Deb Burman and eminent Rabindra Sangeet artist Kamal Baran Chakraborty were present.
Addressing the programme, Mayor Dipak Majumder said that Tagore was a shining star of Indian literature and culture. It is impossible to imagine literature and culture without Rabindranath, he added.
He said that Rabindranath is a matter of passion for all and he had a deep connection with Tripura. He wrote many plays and novels about Tripura. Rabindranath’s thoughts, philosophy and ideology should be brought to the next generation more and more, he added.
