Agartala, May 24: The central government has approved a new express train service between Agartala and Guwahati (Narangi), aimed at improving connectivity in the Northeast region. This decision follows a meeting between West Tripura MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on April 22, where Deb advocated for the introduction of the service and modernization of railway infrastructure in Tripura.

The approval, granted within a month of the request, was officially communicated to Deb by the Railway Minister, who assured continued efforts toward infrastructure upgrades in the state. Since Deb’s tenure as Chief Minister, several express trains and railway improvements have been introduced, with ongoing discussions regarding further modernization, double lanes, and track expansion.

The new train service is expected to enhance passenger convenience and strengthen transport links between Agartala and Guwahati, contributing to overall regional connectivity and development.
