Agartala, June 28: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening medical and technical education to ensure a brighter future for the youth of the state. He emphasized that the government is not only focused on imparting quality education but also on improving educational infrastructure, which has enabled many students to pursue higher studies within the state itself.

Dr Saha attended Bhupendra Chandra Datta Bhowmik Merit-cum-Means Award Ceremony 2025, held at Muktadhara Auditorium and stated that awards are a recognition of students’ determination and unwavering dedication. He also encouraged students to cultivate a spirit of social responsibility alongside academic excellence, which, he said, defines the true purpose of life.

Dr. Saha highlighted that both the central and state governments are working with a clear vision to promote quality education, especially among marginalized sections of society. He stressed the importance of utilizing this “Amrit Kaal” – as declared by the Prime Minister – to empower the nation through education.

Paying tribute to the late Bhupendra Chandra Datta Bhowmik, the Chief Minister described him as a fearless and talented journalist, who worked with professional integrity and unwavering commitment to truth. He noted that Bhowmik played a crucial role in voicing social issues through his writings and led the daily newspaper Dainik Sambad through various challenges with dedication and courage.

Other notable speakers at the event included Sanjay Pal, Chairman of the Dainik Sambad Trust; Swami Shubhakarananda Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar; and Prof. Dr. Ratan Kumar Saha, Vice Chancellor of Techno India University. Dr. Parthapratim Saha, member of the Dainik Sambad Trust, was also present.

As part of the ceremony, 35 financially disadvantaged but meritorious students were awarded certificates, mementos, and cheques by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
