Agartala, July 17: Minister Sudhangshu Das on Thursday emphasized the importance of delivering Central and State government welfare schemes to beneficiaries in a timely and effective manner. He was speaking at a district-level review meeting held at the Panchayati Raj Training Institute Conference Hall in Gomati district.
The meeting, which focused on the implementation status of various government schemes under the Fisheries, Animal Resource Development, and Scheduled Caste Welfare Departments, was attended by key district-level officers of the respective departments. Minister Das instructed officials to ensure that Scheduled Caste students receive their stipends without delay and urged for increased efficiency in scheme execution.
Presenting the status report, Krishnahari Tripura, Deputy Director of Fisheries, informed that Gomati district has 8,449 hectares of water bodies and 29,340 registered fish farmers. During the 2024–25 fiscal year, the district recorded a fish production of 15,624 metric tonnes.
To enhance knowledge among fish farmers, four knowledge centres are operational in the district. Additionally, 23 hatcheries are producing fish seeds, including two ornamental fish hatcheries operating under private ownership. Major infrastructure projects underway include – new fish market at Tingharia, Amarpur, Fisheries Knowledge Centre in Udaipur, Fish Production Centre at Dhunisagar Dighi
Under the Mukhyamantri Matsya Unnayan Yojana, financial assistance of ₹6,000 each will be provided to 700 beneficiaries in the district.
Dr. Billal Debbarma, Deputy Director of Animal Resource Development, stated that the construction of the new District Veterinary Hospital building in Udaipur has been completed and is scheduled to be inaugurated on July 18.
Various schemes under the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department were also discussed during the review meeting, including mechanisms for efficient implementation and outreach to beneficiaries.
