In a disturbing development on Friday, at least 40 private schools across Bengaluru received bomb threat emails, prompting swift action by authorities. Police teams, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, rushed to the schools, evacuated students, and initiated comprehensive combing operations.
The email, sent from the ID “[email protected],” made chilling threats claiming explosive devices—specifically Trinitrotoluene—had been planted inside school classrooms. The message included disturbing and violent language, suggesting mass casualties and expressing deep personal anguish.
The sender threatened: “I will erase every last one of you from this world,” adding graphic descriptions of harm to students and intentions to commit suicide. The email also included a disturbing rant about psychiatric treatment, alleging neglect by mental health professionals and criticizing psychiatric medication.
The threats have caused widespread panic among parents and communities, particularly in areas like RR Nagar and Kengeri, where some of the targeted schools are located. Authorities are treating the threats seriously, though no explosives have been found so far.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender. Cybercrime experts are also assisting in tracking the source.
This is not the first such incident in Bengaluru. On December 1, 2023, more than 15 private schools received similar bomb threats via email, which were later declared hoaxes. However, the recurring nature of these threats is raising serious concerns about school safety and the misuse of digital platforms to spread panic.
As of now, no injuries have been reported, and students have been safely evacuated. Authorities have urged the public not to panic but remain vigilant as the probe continues.
