Agartala, July 20: The Tripura Government is committed to transforming Agartala into a modern, well-developed city through a series of extensive infrastructure and development projects, said Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha on Sunday.

While visiting various areas under Wards 32 and 34 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation—including Gangail Road, Melarmath, Office Lane, Joynagar, Dashamighat, and others—the Chief Minister shared details of ongoing and upcoming development initiatives. These include the construction of additional flyovers, a G-16 category pendulum building complex, Eastern and Western bypass roads, and a five-star hotel.

The Chief Minister emphasized that a massive infrastructure investment of ₹7,000 crore is being implemented across the state. “Our government aims to earn the trust of the people through tangible work. The goal is to enhance infrastructure in every locality,” he said, adding that many of the problems in Agartala have stemmed from decades of unplanned development.

Dr. Saha also mentioned a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to upgrade the quality of national highways in the state. In addition, the government is working to improve infrastructure in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) areas.
“Our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, is a skilled architect of modern India. It is under his visionary leadership that we are trying to build a new Tripura,” he remarked.

During the walk-through inspection, the Chief Minister personally interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances, and directed concerned officials to take immediate action.

He reviewed the progress of works related to drainage, water supply, and road repairs. Instructions were issued to raise low-lying roads and install proper drainage systems to prevent waterlogging. He also stressed that all development projects must be completed within stipulated timelines.

Accompanying the Chief Minister were Agartala Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, Agartala Smart City Ltd. CEO Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, AMC Commissioner Dilip Kumar Chakma, and other senior officials from various departments.
