Agartala, Sep 16: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Biswajit Palit, currently serving as an Additional Judge of the Tripura High Court, as a Permanent Judge.

The decision was taken at a Collegium meeting held on September 15. “The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 15th September, 2025 has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Justice Biswajit Palit, Additional Judge, as a Permanent Judge in the High Court of Tripura,” the official notification stated.

Justice Palit began his career in the Tripura Judicial Service in 2001 and has since served across seven of the eight judicial districts of the state in multiple roles. He also held key administrative positions including Member Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, Secretary of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, and Law Secretary to the Government of Tripura.

He was promoted to the Selection Grade of the Tripura Judicial Service in February 2021 and elevated as an Additional Judge of the High Court on October 26, 2023.

With his vast judicial and administrative experience, Justice Palit’s elevation as a Permanent Judge is seen as a significant step for strengthening the judiciary in Tripura.
