Agartala, Sep 17: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ Campaign at Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital premises, stressing that the health of mothers directly determines the well-being of families.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Dr. Saha said, “The mother is the first pillar of every family. If a mother’s health is compromised, the entire family is affected. That is why this campaign has been launched to ensure women, particularly mothers, remain healthy and disease-free. A healthy mother means a healthy family, and healthy families create a strong society.”

The Chief Minister pointed out that women often suffer from ailments unknowingly, which remain undetected until serious. Through this campaign, health conditions can be identified at an early stage, enabling timely treatment. “This marks a new beginning for maternal health and public welfare in the country,” he added, while wishing the initiative every success.

After interacting with the press, the Chief Minister, along with other dignitaries, visited the stalls set up by the Health Department showcasing various healthcare services.

Among the dignitaries present were Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, Secretary Abhishek Singh, CM’s Secretary Dr. P. K. Chakraborty, Social Welfare & Social Education Secretary Tapas Roy, Health Director Dr. Tapan Majumder, and AGMC Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally launched the nationwide campaign from Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. As part of the initiative, more than 1 lakh health camps will be organized across the country between September 17 and October 2. Services will be extended through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, community health centres, district hospitals, and other government healthcare institutions.

The campaign also coincides with the observance of the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah and aims to provide benefits to pregnant women under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.

Launching the initiative, the Prime Minister said the campaign reflects the government’s strong commitment to prioritizing women’s health and empowerment. “This initiative will play a major role in keeping India’s women healthy and strong. Its goal is the welfare and advancement of every mother in the country,” Modi stated.

The inaugural programme at AGMC and GBP Hospital was attended by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha as the chief guest, along with senior officials, dignitaries, and health workers, who joined the event virtually connected to the PM’s launch.
