Tripura’s Minister for Tourism and Transport, Sushanta Chowdhury, actively participated in the two-day National Conference of Tourism Ministers held in Udaipur, Rajasthan, starting Tuesday. The prestigious event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, to foster stronger collaboration between the Centre and states for the advancement of India’s tourism sector.
The conference brought together key tourism stakeholders from across the country, including Union Cabinet Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Rajasthan Deputy CM and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, and Tourism Ministers from all Indian states.
Focused on sustainable growth and innovation, the event featured strategic discussions on enhancing sustainable tourism practices, accelerating digital transformation, and promoting state-specific tourism hotspots through coordinated initiatives. The conference aimed to position India as a premier global tourism destination by leveraging regional strengths.
Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a one-on-one discussion with Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, sharing insights into Tripura’s rich tourism potential and developmental priorities. He also met with Rajasthan’s Deputy CM Diya Kumari to explore mutual opportunities for tourism development and extended an invitation to visit Tripura’s scenic and culturally vibrant destinations.
Highlighting Tripura’s growing appeal in the Northeast, Minister Chowdhury emphasized the state’s commitment to aligning with the national vision for tourism excellence. His participation reinforced Tripura’s proactive approach to promoting its unique offerings on a national platform and fostering inter-state cooperation.
He was accompanied by UK Chakma, Secretary, Tripura Tourism Department, and Prashant Badal Negi, Director, Tourism Department, underscoring the state’s unified efforts in advancing its tourism agenda.
