Former Tripura Chief Minister and current Member of Parliament from the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, Biplab Kumar Deb, attended a crucial meeting of the Parliamentary Committee at the Parliament House Annexe on Thursday.

Deb later shared highlights of the session through a social media post, stating that he actively took part in detailed discussions with senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as well as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The core agenda of the meeting was the examination of the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

During the session, the committee undertook a clause-by-clause review of the proposed amendments, assessing their legal, financial, and administrative implications. Members deliberated on ways to make insolvency resolution processes more effective, time-bound, and transparent, ensuring that both creditors’ rights and the interests of affected companies are safeguarded.

The discussions also highlighted the need for a more robust framework to strengthen corporate accountability and streamline mechanisms for resolving financial distress. Committee members emphasised that improving efficiency within the insolvency ecosystem is essential for promoting investor confidence and ensuring economic stability.

The insights and recommendations emerging from the meeting are expected to play an important role in refining the draft legislation before it is presented for broader debate in Parliament.
