Agartala, May 27: The admission process for the general degree colleges of the state, which began from May 23 will last till May 30 next and the merit list of the first round will be published on the website of the concerned college on June 11.

Addressing a press conference here at Agartala on Tuesday Special Secretary, Higher Education Department, Ravel Hemendra Kumar said that as per the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Education and Tripura University, the online admission process has been started in all general degree colleges of the state.

The second round admission process will continue from June 21 to June 25. If any seats are vacant in the colleges after the second round of admission, the concerned college authorities will take the initiative to fill those seats as per the merit list, he added.

He said that this year, a student can apply for admission in a maximum of 4 colleges and choose 2 major subjects of their choice in each college.

In a press conference, the Special Secretary said that 3 new general degree colleges are being started in the state this academic year to facilitate the students of the state to pursue higher education.

He further said that every educational institution is being upgraded to a multi-disciplinary mode in accordance with the guidelines of the National Education Policy. In this regard, undergraduate level courses like general degree colleges are being started in the Institute of Advanced Studies in Kunjaban, Agartala and the College of Teacher Education in Kumarghat in the academic year 2025-26.

The special secretary further informed that the TIT, Narsinghgarh will be upgraded to a Government Technical University and Agartala Women’s College will be converted into a Government Women’s University. In this regard, financial assistance has been received to take necessary initiatives. Work has also been taken up accordingly, he added.
