Agartala, May 07: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday chaired a meeting with the officials of the Tripura Jal Board to ensure that every household in the urban areas of the state are connected with pure drinking water.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the government is working on multifaceted initiatives and schemes to ensure pure drinking water facility for all. Dr Saha directed the officials to ensure early drinking water connection to the households which are left behind and on the areas, which are reeling under crisis.
The Chief Minister said that there should be clear guidelines for providing water connection to flats and apartments. The chief minister advised the board to be more vigilant about testing before supplying water to the citizens. The Chief Minister also said that a transparent guideline and management should be brought in connection with drinking water. Dr Saha also emphasized on proper maintenance of water ATMs.
Chief Executive Officer of Tripura Jal Board Vivek H. B. presented the current picture of various Jal Board projects implemented in the state. He also presented the current status of Jal Board’s ongoing AMRUT 2.0 project, performance data of 13 ground water treatment and surface water treatment plants in Agartala at present.
He informed that drinking water connection has been delivered to 84,378 i.e. 69.12 percent houses in Agartala including Central, South, North and East zones till March 2025. He also briefed the Chief Minister about various schemes of the Jal Board including renovation and beautification of water bodies in various urban areas of the state along with other projects implemented by the Tripura Jal Board under the Special Assistant.
