Agartala, May 19: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday extended financial aid to the bereaved family of the siblings, who were found drowned to death on Sunday.

The state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, DM of West Tripura district Drf Viushal Kumar and others accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit to the bereaved family at Chanmari on Monday.

The deceased siblings- Prasenjit Debnath and Priyanka Debnath of East Chanmari were found in a small water pit near a construction site. They were missing since Saturday and their floating bodies were recovered on Sunday.

The Chief Minister and the tourism minister handed over a cheque of Rs. 8 lakh to Krishna Debnath, father of the deceased and a daily-wage labourer, and said that the government will stand by the side of the family in this hour of grief.

“Government would consider if anything can be done for the elder daughter of the family who is now studying in Class XII,” Dr Saha told reporters.
