Agartala: Mar 29: The CPI(M) Gomati District Committee organized a blood donation camp on Saturday at the party office in Udaipur, ahead of the upcoming 24th Central Conference of CPI(M). The event saw participation from several leaders, including CPI(M) Politburo member and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, CPI(M) State Committee Secretariat member Ratan Bhowmik, Gomati District Committee Secretary Parimal Debnath, and Udaipur Subdivision Secretary Dilip Dutta.
Addressing the gathering, Manik Sarkar highlighted the critical importance of blood donation, emphasizing that scientists have yet to find an alternative to blood and that it transcends caste or other divisions. He urged people to donate blood regularly, noting that medical experts recommend donating up to three times a year. Sarkar also encouraged participation in body and eye donation initiatives.
During his speech, Sarkar alleged that over the past five to six years, democratic organizations attempting to organize blood donation drives have faced obstacles from anti-social elements associated with the ruling party. He expressed concern over incidents of attacks on blood donors in the state.
The event witnessed a significant turnout of donors, reflecting strong community support for the cause.
