Agartala, April 14: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday laid wreaths to the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar here at Agartala to mark Ambedkar Jayanti and claimed that his government is working for the welfare of the Dalits in Tripura by moving in line with the paths shown by Ambedkar.

“Dr. Ambedkar was a scholar, philosopher, economist, social reformer and freedom fighter. He has gifted us the best constitution in the world. The way he worked and fought for oppressed people inspires everyone even today,” Dr Saha while addressing the gathering here at Agartala Ujjayanta Palace premise.

Dr Saha said, “Celebrating the birth anniversary of Ambedkar is not enough to honour him. Students of this present generation should follow the paths and ideology of Ambedkar to bring development to their life and education.”

Meanwhile the SC Welfare minister Sudhansu Das addressed the gathering and said, “Ambedkar wanted to build a new India, where there would be no untouchability, hatred and discrimination. Justice and equality will prevail everywhere. That is why he has gifted the world’s biggest constitution to the people of the country.”
