Agartala, April 02: The Tripura government is contemplating to make Tripura self-reliant in agricultural production, said agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday.
The minister inaugurated newly constructed seed processing center at North Laxmilunga in Bamutia block in West Tripura district. Addressing the programme, the minister said that the government is working to ensure that the farmers get the right price for their produce.
He said, “Agriculture is the basis of our country’s economy. With better quality seeds, modern agricultural machinery, regular soil testing, more crops can be grown on less land. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special importance to the development of farmers. The Prime Minister emphasized on the use of drones in the care and maintenance of agricultural fields.”
The Agriculture Minister said that the state is self-sufficient in the production of various types of seeds. Tripura state has this achievement after Assam in North Eastern region, he added.
