Agartala: Mar 29: The weather department has issued a heatwave warning for the next three days, declaring a yellow alert across all districts of Tripura.
According to the department, a combination of partially cloudy skies, high solar radiation, and the transport of hot westerly winds is expected to cause a significant rise in daytime temperatures, potentially reaching 36 degrees Celsius or higher in several districts. Additionally, increased humidity levels are anticipated in some areas over the same period.
To mitigate the effects of the heatwave, the department has advised residents to take precautionary measures. These include avoiding direct exposure to the sun, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water even when not thirsty, and wearing lightweight, light-colored, and breathable cotton clothing. Other recommendations include using protective eyewear, carrying water while traveling, and consuming rehydrating drinks such as ORS, lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, and buttermilk.
Residents are urged to follow these guidelines to stay safe during the heatwave.
