Agartala, May 22: The state agriculture and power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday laid foundation stone for two key projects in Udaipur subdivision and also inaugurated 33 KV Garji power substation.

The minister laid foundation stone for the Super Antenna Office of the Agriculture Department at Dhani Sagar’s southwest corner. MLAs Jitendra Majumdar and Abhishek Debroy, Gomati Zilla Parishad’s Saha-Sabhadhipati Sujan Sen and several officials from the department were present.

The minister said that the government is focused on doubling the farmers’ income by maximizing agricultural land use for cultivating crops like vegetables, paddy, and rice.

Later, the minister laid the foundation stone for an Agrimarket Shed in Udaipur’s Kalaban Bazar. He revealed that since coming to power, the government has invested Rs 303.42 crore in market improvements and has now allocated Rs 2.20 crore for 18 new stalls and a shed to facilitate trader operations.

He encouraged farmers to utilize vacant land for cultivating pineapple, coconut, jackfruit, mango, ginger, and other produce. Residents and farmers expressed joy over the initiative, hoping it would strengthen local agricultural trade.
