Agartala, May 15: Tipra Motha’s former supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, along with most individuals currently in the BJP, has roots in the Congress party, making their inclination towards Congress a natural sentiment. This was asserted by senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman while addressing journalists today.
Barman revealed that Pradyot Kishore Debbarma visited the Congress Bhavan yesterday, where he returned party flags that had remained with him since his tenure as the Pradesh Congress Committee president. “He came to the entrance of the Congress Bhavan and handed over the flags but did not enter the building. He left immediately after,” Barman said.
He emphasized that the act was not politically motivated. “There is no political intent behind this gesture. It was simply a matter of respect for the Congress leadership,” he clarified. Barman dismissed any attempt to attach political significance to the act, calling such speculation baseless.
The Congress leader further pointed out that many individuals now associated with the BJP, including Pradyot Debbarma, were formerly part of the Congress party. “Their political DNA is Congress. So, it is only natural for them to still feel a sense of attachment to the party,” Barman remarked.
His comments come amidst ongoing political realignments and speculations in Tripura. However, Barman was firm in stating that this particular event should not be interpreted as a sign of political change or a possible return of Debbarma to Congress.
Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has not made any public comment regarding his visit or future political intentions, leaving observers curious but without concrete answers. For now, Congress maintains that the flag return was a symbolic gesture of courtesy, not a political signal.
