Agartala, May 27: The state agriculture and farmers welfare minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday said that adoption of scientific method can enhance crop production in the state. The government is distributing various agricultural machinery to the farmers at subsidized prices, he added.

Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this while inaugurating the new two-storeyed building of Amarpur Agricultural Subdivision at Kathal Bagan in Amarpur. The Agriculture Minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Medium Market Shed and Rural Market Shed in Natun Bazar.

“It is very easy to become self-reliant by farming scientifically. More training and assistance will be provided to farmers from this new office building,” the minister said, adding that agricultural experts will go to the farmers and give them necessary advice. They will inform the farmers about what to cultivate in which seasons, what fertilizers to apply, and what medicines to apply, he said.

The minister further said that the state government is building new markets for the farmers to sell their produce.
