Agartala, May 26: The TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma on Monday demanded the government to remove the DM of Gomati district Tarit Kanti Chakma for refusing to meet the Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman at DM Bungalow on Sunday night.
The MLA sought the intervention of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in this regard and stated, “I received an authentic information that on 25.05.2025 Evening, Maharaja Pradyut Kishore Manikya Bahadur (Public Representative & the Chief of Tipra Motha Party) and Sri Purna Chandra Jamatia, Chief Executive Member of TTAADC Administration, Tripura, went to visit Sri Tarit Kumar Chakma, District Magistrate, Gomati District, at his Government Residence, for making discussion of an urgent matter.”
“The District Magistrate declined to visit with two public representatives despite of his presence at his Government Residence showing intentional technicalities. This sort of activities on the part of the District Magistrate not acceptable in any way. I condemned and censured him for his such behaviour and attitude for his intentional dereliction of Government duties,” he added in his press communique on Monday.
He further stated, “I draw the kind attention of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Tripura, to remove the District Magistrate, Gomati District, immediately in protest of such unexpected behaviour and attitude.”
Meanwhile, Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman, who went to meet the DM on Sunday night at his Bungalow and later refused by the DM to meet him in his bungalow, said that being a public representative the DM was not supposed to refuse anybody to meet him.
In his social media handle on Monday, Pradyot asked his party activists not to blame any community following the action of the DM. Meanwhile he asked the TIPRA Motha MLAs to meet the concerned administrative officials of their respective area to restrict illegal entry of the Bangladesh nationals in Indian territory.
