Agartala:  May 20—The poor condition of National Highway 208 in the Manik Bhandar Chaumuhani area led to a major traffic disruption today after a truck loaded with stones got stuck in the mud. The incident caused a complete halt in movement from three directions, prompting frustrated residents to stage a protest by blocking the national highway.

According to reports, the highway has been deteriorating since just six months after its construction, with the Manik Bhandar Chaumuhani section of the Khowai-Kamalpur-Kumarghat road particularly affected due to a lack of repairs. Commuters have repeatedly faced difficulties navigating large potholes, and drivers have experienced frequent accidents due to the worsening road conditions.

Local residents, who rely on the highway for daily travel, voiced their concerns over the lack of maintenance, leading to the protest. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene to address the situation.

As public frustration grows, demands for urgent repairs and accountability from the relevant authorities continue to escalate.
