Agartala: May 21: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Wednesday paid heartfelt tributes to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi on his 34th death anniversary. Recalling his contributions to the nation, the Congress vowed to carry forward his ideals and vision for a progressive India.

The TPCC and its various frontal organizations held multiple commemorative events across the state to honour the legacy of the late leader. Describing Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary, TPCC President Asish Kumar Saha emphasized the former Prime Minister’s enduring relevance in Indian politics.

“Rajiv Gandhi’s ideas significantly shaped the technological and digital transformation of India. His vision empowered youth and laid the foundation for a self-reliant nation. Even after decades of his tragic assassination, his thoughts continue to inspire,” said Saha during the remembrance program.

To mark the occasion, the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress organized blood donation camps across all eight districts of the state, reflecting the party’s commitment to social welfare and community service. The TPCC also announced a torch rally in Agartala as a symbolic stand against terrorism.

Saha stated, “The torch rally is our way of sending a strong message against terrorism. Rajiv Gandhi was a victim of terrorism, and we will continue to raise our voice against such acts of violence.”

The events saw participation from party leaders, workers, and supporters, who paid floral tributes and remembered Rajiv Gandhi’s contributions in strengthening democracy, promoting education, and advocating for scientific temper.

With these initiatives, the Tripura Congress reiterated its resolve to uphold Rajiv Gandhi’s legacy and work toward an inclusive, forward-looking India in line with the ideals he championed.
