Agartala, May 06: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded tourism infrastructural development project work covering Chabimura, Fatik Sagar and Amar Sagar and said that Tripura, which is free from insurgents, has huge potential in the tourism sector.

CM Dr Manik Saha was accompanied by the state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury. The main programme was held at Chabimura in Amarpur subdivision.

Addressing the programme, CM Dr Manik Saha said that the previous government has neglected development of tourism in the state, whereas the present government has taken various initiatives to promote tourism and boost the sector.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister said that the government is planning to deploy Special Executive as tourist police in various tourist destinations of the state. The recruitment process of at least 6067 special executives has been completed and the final lists of the selected candidates will be released soon, Dr Saha said.

He said that the government is focused on building modern infrastructures in various tourist sites of the states to attract more tourists from the state and abroad.
