Agartala: April 26: Tripura’s Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath recently met with Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang during his visit to Gangtok to attend a regional meeting on power management in the Northeast. As a gesture of goodwill and cultural respect, Nath extended a warm felicitation to the Sikkim Chief Minister on behalf of the people of Tripura.

During the meeting, Minister Nath presented the traditional “Risa,” a handwoven cloth that holds deep cultural significance in Tripura, symbolizing the identity and heritage of the indigenous communities. Alongside the Risa, he also gifted a framed portrait of the revered Mata Tripura Sundari Temple — one of Tripura’s most iconic spiritual landmarks. These tokens were offered as a mark of respect and to strengthen the bond of cultural unity between the two northeastern states.

The meeting was cordial and symbolic of the cooperative spirit that defines inter-state relations in the region. Minister Nath highlighted the shared interests of the northeastern states in addressing critical issues like power infrastructure, connectivity, and regional development. His visit to Sikkim also reflects Tripura’s commitment to engaging with neighboring states to exchange ideas and collaborate on key sectors such as energy.

By presenting these culturally rich items, Ratan Lal Nath not only represented the people of Tripura but also showcased the state’s rich traditions and spiritual heritage. The gesture was warmly received by CM Prem Singh Tamang, who acknowledged the significance of the offerings and expressed appreciation for the cultural bond between Tripura and Sikkim.

Such inter-state engagements are vital for fostering unity, cooperation, and mutual growth in the Northeast, and this meeting stands as a testament to the shared values and regional solidarity among its leaders.
