Agartala: May 24: As part of a nationwide initiative, the Tripura government is set to launch a special agricultural awareness campaign titled ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ on May 29. The drive will continue till June 12 and aims to cover all eight districts of the state, focusing on strengthening self-reliance in agriculture and ensuring food security.

Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath announced the campaign after chairing a preparatory meeting with concerned officials and Zilla Parishad representatives at the State Agriculture Research Station, A.D. Nagar in Agartala. The campaign is designed to raise awareness about government schemes in agriculture, modern agri-technologies, and the challenges and demands faced by farmers.

Speaking to the media, Nath said one of the primary objectives of the initiative is to bridge the gap between agricultural scientists and the farming community. “We want to take agricultural research from the lab to the land. Our scientists must understand farmers’ real issues and help them directly in the field,” he emphasized.

The campaign will also highlight natural farming practices and promote sustainable agricultural techniques. A key component of the initiative, the Krishi Jagaran Ratha Yatra, will travel to 864 locations across the state. Authorities have set a target of reaching 1,72,000 farmers through this drive.

To ensure widespread outreach, 72 meetings will be conducted each day, supported by three dedicated committees in each district. These sessions will engage farmers, local agricultural officers, and representatives from institutions like ICAR and KVK.

The meeting was attended by Executive Member of ADC (Agriculture) Bhavaranjan Reang, Sabhadhipatis of Zilla Parishads, farmer club leaders, and officials from the Agriculture and Horticulture departments, who discussed logistics and strategies to make the campaign a success.
